Valamar Trail 2017
…where the hills meet the sea…
The race is approaching fast so now it’s time to give you some useful information.
START PACK AND BIB PICK_UP SCHEDULE
Race number and race pack distribution shall take place in the Valamar Sanfior hotel in Rabac according to the following schedule: Friday, September 29th from 18:00 till 22:00 and Saturday, September 30th from 06:00 till 11:15. Distribution will take place in the hotel’s conference room.
All of the courses start in the Saturday morning, ULTRA at 8:00, ADVANCED at 10:00, MARATHON at 10:30, SEMI at 11:00 and MINI at 11:30.
If it is possible, please pick your start pack and BIB in the Friday evening to avoid the mess in the Saturday morning. There are more than 600 registered competitors, we kindly ask you to be patient during the distribution.
There are six aid stations along the route with food and liquids. You will find there: water, Cola, isotonic, fruits, banana bread, cheese, chocolate, bread, salty snacks and crisps.
CONTROL CHECKS ALONG THE ROUTE
All of the competitors will be checked during the race at the several check points. Be patient, there is plenty of time and kilometers before the end of the race.
Course is marked with pink flags, red-white stripes and yellow-black arrows outside of the pavement. On the pavement, the course is marked with the green arrow markings sprayed on the floor with text “TRAIL”. You will find one of it sprayed each 50 meters. Every connections and exits from the pavement surface is marked with the sprayed arrow. Additionaly, in the urban areas, the course will be marked with the red/white stripes too.
Don’t get confused, the first photo shows the “regular” arrow which points in the right direction, the second photo shows the arrows sprayed on the sections where the course leads both ways.
Keep in mind that it is very clever to carry all of the recommended equipment because you never know when you’re going to need it. The obligatory items shall be checked when the athlete collects the race bibs, so please take everything with you at the registrations.
Competitors are required to carry the following kit for the full duration of the race (not valid for MINI and SEMI):
- mobile phone with a full battery
- whistle – not obligatory for SEMI and MINI
- survival blanket – not obligatory for SEMI and MINI
- first aid kit (basic kit)
- a personal cup or beaker – there will be no cups at the aid stations!
- container with at least one liter of liquid
- head torch – only for ULTRA
There are few free parking zones in Rabac, take a look at the Google map, there is a lot of free space. At the same map, you can find all other significant race locations as well as the every course gpx logs.
As always, when you register yourself on the race such as this, you are asked to fill and sign the disclaimer. Each competitor will have to bring filled and signed disclaimer form on the BIB distribution.
Same apply to the competitors who had registered their minor children, they will have to fill and sign an addition to the form. The form is available below.
